How to Maintain a Proper Dental Care?

It can be a great challenge to maintain good dental care habits. Dentists suggest brushing as well as flossing at least twice a day and prefer their patients to carry out this practice after every meal. When you brush at least twice a day, you stand a very less chance of developing a tooth decay, gum disease, building up of plaque and cavities. It’s just a matter of habit that most people stay away from brushing twice a day. It’s generally said that you need 21 days to develop a habit, so the first step is to start developing new habits in order to change your habits. Developing a new habit for your dental care has to be a measured process. It’s extremely helpful for you to prevent periodontal, gum disease, if you take care of your teeth at home and then maintain the dental health. Experts opine that there are many types of regular dental care at home, out of which brushing and flossing mentioned above is one. Also, if you combine proper dental care habits at home along with regularly visiting the dentist, then the risk of developing dental diseases will be reduced to a great extent.

How to Maintain Good Dental Care Habits?

Many would wonder that maintaining good oral care at home is good, but how to do it? Generally, using products such as toothpaste, toothbrush and floss are the basics, that can be used directly are quite useful for preventing cavities and gum disease. Also, you can know some useful basic principles which are as follows:

Initially, when you brush your teeth, you must spend at least 3 minutes and brush your teeth twice a day. It would be better to install a timer in order to keep your dental care routine. Secondly, you need to floss at least once a day, which can help you immensely to clean between your teeth. Lastly, buy dental cleaning tools and toothpaste approved by Dental Authority. It’s important to visit the dentist at least twice a year as seeing the best dentist in Pune regularly can help detect any issues before they get too serious. By visiting the dental clinic, you can also know how healthy your teeth are. Also, taking care of them along the way will help them last longer as there is a strong correlation between the overall health of the teeth and dentist visits.

Effects of Poor Oral Hygiene

Poor oral hygiene results into the accumulation of plaque around the base of your teeth and gum line, thus leading your gums to become red and inflamed. “Plaque is the bacteria laden film that, if allowed to accumulate on teeth and gums will result into tooth decay and gum disease. If you ignore your teeth care at home and don’t visit the dentist regularly, the plaque that accumulates could potentially result into the development of empty space around your teeth. Such spaces could ultimately result into the destruction of bone as well as other fragile tissue supporting your teeth and you could lose them.

Thus, good habits are absolutely essential in order to maintain proper dental care which also include regular visits to the best orthodontist in Pune. The key to success in keeping good dental habits is to make it a part of your routine and that consumes some time. Also, proper dental care habits are not automatically achieved, but you need to work at building them.

Why It’s Important to have a Root Canal Treatment for a Troubled Tooth?

Root canal treatment, also called endodontic treatment, is a dental procedure wherein the dental surgeon removes the diseased or damaged pulp and fills and seals the inside areas (the root canals and the pulp chamber).

The main cause of a toothache is inflamed or infected pulp. In order to relieve the pain and prevent more complications, the tooth might be extracted, i.e. removed surgically or saved by performing this treatment. Today, this treatment has become a common dental procedure, with more than fourteen million performed every year, with a success rate of 95%.

A general dentist or an endodentist (a dentist specializing in endodentic, which means inside the tooth)might perform this treatment. The pulp’s soft tissues inside the tooth contains the blood supply, with the help of which the tooth gets its nutrients, and the nerve by which the tooth senses cold and hot. This tissue is susceptible to damage from deep dental decay, accidental injury, tooth fracture or trauma from recurrent dental procedures (such as several fillings over time). If at all a tooth gets diseased or injured, bacteria builds up inside the pulp, thus spreading infection from the natural crown of the tooth to the root tips in the jawbone thus causing severe pain.

The surgeon performs this treatment under local anesthesia. He places a thin sheet of rubber, known as a rubber dam, so as to isolate the tooth. The dentist takes out any tooth decay and makes an opening through the natural crown of the tooth into the pulp chamber. Creating this access also relieves the pressure inside the tooth and can ease pain to a great extent. The length of the root canal is then determined by the dentist, generally with a series of x-rays. He then uses small wire like files for cleaning the entire canal space of diseased pulp tissue and bacteria. The debris is then flushed out with large amounts of water. The canals are also slightly enlarged and shaped to receive an inert filling material known as gutta percha. However, the tooth is not considered to be filled and permanently sealed until it’s entirely free of active infection. The dentist might place a temporary seal, or leave the tooth open to drain and prescribe an antibiotic to counter any spread of infection from the tooth. This is the primary reason that the root canal treatment might need many visits to the dentist.

How to Prepare

There is no typical preparation for this treatment as such. Once the tooth is opened to drain, the dentist could prescribe an antibiotic, after which the patient must take the full prescribed course. As the infection comes under control, local anesthetic is more effective, so that this procedure might be performed without any discomfort.

It’s highly possible that the tooth could be sore for few days after filling. The dentist might subscribe some antibiotic to the patient to ease the soreness. The tissues around the tooth might also be irritated. The patient can be benefited by rinsing the mouth with hot salt water many times a day. Also, the patient must avoid chewing on the side of the mouth for first few days where the procedure has been done. Also, remember that for a successful treatment you need to consult the best orthodontist in Pune that will guide you well in every possible way.
